From Malaga to Barcelona
When Malaga falls asleep I drag my mind to Iberian Andalusia,
It lets itself be admired, from its exotic park to its historic center,
And to see Picasso, in the Buenavista Palace, there is just a jump,
As for Gibralfaro, you have to walk its ramparts to see the city from above.
Here is the moon rolling in all its splendor above the towers,
Flooding Granada with its tender light the halls and courtyards,
Under my window, the garden is softly illuminated,
The orange and lemon trees are glittering with silver,
The fountain sparkles in the moonlight,
Where one can even perceive the redness of the common rose.
It is surrounded by only five hills but Cartagena is nicknamed "Little Rome",
With its deep-water bay closed by a belt of Iberian mountains,
By chance in 1988 a hidden historical heritage was discovered around the forum,
The Gothic Basilica of Santa Maria, the mansions of the nobles and the Roman theater.
This land of rocks proudly raises its old surrounding walls protecting ancient Tarragona,
Many peoples have passed over your stony soil leaving vestiges of a Roman life,
Fertile land of the Ebro planted with rice fields you sparkle far from the spring darkness,
Catalan people with a proud appearance, you sing and dance while respecting your hospitable appearance.
On the Costa Brava, Palamos pays homage to the seafaring professions in this old fishing village,
Its old castle and its ancestral cannons remind us that they repelled the Turkish invaders in the 16th century,
On the lands of Figueres stands the largest surrealist object in the world, Dali and his tricks,
The old Municipal Theatre houses the Dalinian project where Gala reigns, the main subject of inspiration of the genius inventor.
The ancient Barcino founded in the 1st century is full of Roman remains in the Iberian city of Emporiae,
Occupied by the Muslims, the medieval Barcelona of James I of Aragon experienced the Reconquista,
With his wife, Queen Yolande, these two "gegants" parade in all the processions,
While its ancient hero always extends his cast-iron finger towards the Americas, it is Colon.
Living brick "castellers" fill the streets in San Jordi,
In his architectural dexterity the soul of the master Gaudi flies over the Sagrada Familia,
The "Blaugranes of Barça" at the exit of the mythical "Camp Nou" set "Las Ramblas" ablaze,
From the traditional market of "La Boquería" to "Parc Güell", Barcelona offers all its phantasmagoria.
