Reunion Island Intense: It was so hot

A territory of this end of France where fire sometimes merges with the sea in chaos,
The old Bourbon Island, proud of its circuses and peaks,
In 2010 saw its magical UNESCO World Heritage sites,
Positioned north of this island in the Indian Ocean, St Denis is the capital of Reunion.

On Saturdays the seafront of the leeward coast in St Paul is in heat,
Creoles and tourists meet in this colorful fairground market,
The opportunity to taste excellent samosas with a glass of well chilled rum,
Before the beach in St Leu so that the "ears" come back to the continent well tanned.

But you Jean-Charles, Peti-Tou we uprooted you, barely 10 years old you were,
Abandoned by a daring father and a penniless mother,
It is in Hell-Bourg in the cold mountain, at the DDASS that you will be placed,
After a few months, you were transferred to the mainland to learn a trade

Left under the trade winds of Bourbon Island, it is in Cantal that you will be transplanted,
You will say "White as straw in tail, we fly in the cloud" we dreamed,
With about fifty friends, it was in Quézac that the nuns took you in,
"You will learn good trades and go see your families again" they told you!

Between football games and picking up chestnuts your "vacation" was spent,
The years slowly went by and apprentice baker you found yourself again,
You were flirtatious, soccer player and with the girls you were successful,
After baking, you married the profession of painter.

At 18 you headed for Nice and your mother finally found you there,
Then leaving your mother and the life of partiers in Nice, you went to the snow-capped Alps,
But CAP in your pocket you missed your island and at 20 you went back to Reunion,
Rejected by your family you gave up your roots and in Savoy you asked for a union.

With Sylvie the divorced, it is Julie then Émilie who will give you the joy of being a Dad,
You worked, you started a family, you were happy, finally a nice life,
But patatras a plumber passed by and Sylvie with your daughters left,
Elisabeth you met, Alexander will be born and with him a new job occupied you.

20 years ago, your story and that of the children of the Creuse was staged on television,
After "The Land of the Lost Children" of your "Maloya" you made a book in the form of resilience,
At more than 50 years old you dared to tell your past, that of your broken childhood, with emotion,
Nou Artrouv Jean-Charles, “It was so cold” for this experience!
